Eucalypt Dyeing Workshop
Learn to make leaf and bark dyes and imprints on fabric to celebrate National Eucalypt Day. Dye a scarf to take home as well as samples of wool, silk and linen dyed in local ACT acacias and eucalypts.
There will also be a short guided walk showing a variety of eucalypts in the Gardens.
Participants will work with local textile artist Sally Blake, who has done extensive research on plant dyes, including two eucalyptus dye research projects at the Gardens. She is currently studying the 40+ eucalypt species that grow naturally in the Australian Capital Territory. Sally has created a free Eucalyptus Dye Database with recipes and dye colours.
