Kakadu National Park

This was an event at Taste 2018, which has now finished.

We're busy pulling together an even more exciting program for Taste 2019. Join our mailing list below to find out about events, special offers and early release tickets before anyone else does.

Experience a traditional cook-up beside Anbangbang Billabong as guests of the local Hunter family.

The Hunters are the former owners of the much-loved Kakadu Culture Camp, and visitors have raved about their tours for many years. The family is known for sharing their culture and heritage through delicious foods and warm hospitality.

The day starts at 7.30 am with the setting up of a traditional ground oven. Take a stroll around the billabong or join the bush food walk at nearby Nourlangie (Burrungkuy) before returning at 12.30 pm for a lunch of slow-cooked buffalo and barramundi grilled over hot coals.

As you eat and yarn, you can admire Nourlangie’s dramatic backdrop and a multitude of wildlife, particularly the many bird species that feed in and around the billabong.
