Fisheries assistance – Fishing Business Assistance Grants now open
The Australian Government’s Fishing Business Assistance Grants Program is now open.
Fishing Business Assistance Grants
- Fishing Business Assistance Grants assist the commercial fishing industry as they continue transitioning their operations to the new management arrangements for Australian Marine Parks.
- The Australian Government is offering eligible commercial fishers one-off grants, based on the catch records they have provided to their fisheries management agencies.
- Commercial fishers who are eligible for a grant will receive a letter of offer, which they must accept through the Community Grants Hub.
- Acceptances close 11 pm AEST on Tuesday 7 May 2019.
To find out more about the grants, including the Grant Opportunity Guidelines, visit the Community Grants Hub.
To help address region or sector-specific impacts, the Australian Government is also delivering a complementary, targeted first round of Our Marine Park Grants focused on the fishing industry.
This $5 million grant round closed on 12 March 2019, and we are currently assessing applications from the invited commercial and recreation fishing organisations. The grants are for projects to improve long-term sustainable fishing and conservation outcomes in Australian Marine Parks.
The second round will open in the second half of 2019, and will be available to a wider range of marine park users.
These grants are part of the broader Fisheries Assistance and User Engagement Package.
