Maguk and Twin Falls plateau walk now open to visitors | Parks Australia

Two of Kakadu National Park’s most stunning destinations are now open to visitors, with Maguk and the Twin Falls plateau walk ready to explore.

Maguk is a favourite for many, offering a rewarding hike and a stunning waterhole surrounded by rainforest and towering cliffs.

Twin Falls as seen from the air, a spectacular waterfall pilling off sheer rocky cliffs amongst beautiful, lush vegetation.

The site was almost ready to open when the late seasonal rainfall in May damaged the roads and lead to further clean-up works being needed to prepare the site for visitors.

Rangers have worked hard over recent weeks to complete essential crocodile surveys for visitor safety, including the removal of a saltwater crocodile from the area.

The Twin Falls plateau walk offers breathtaking views and a unique escarpment hiking experience. The 6km walk is one of Kakadu’s most difficult but rewarding hikes, taking visitors to the top of the Arnhem Land escarpment where you can view ancient sandstone formations from the lookout. Visitors are encouraged to carry plenty of food and water for the journey.

A reminder that Twin Falls gorge remains closed for a major infrastructure upgrade.
