Kakadu National Park – Total Fire Ban in place
Due to severe weather conditions a Total Fire Ban for Kakadu National Park is in place until midnight Friday 28 August 2020.
Although a Total Fire Ban is in place Kakadu remains open. See the list of sites open to visitors.
During the period of total fire ban, lighting, maintaining or using a fire is strictly prohibited anywhere within Kakadu National Park.
Kakadu rangers are monitoring two small fires. One in a remote area on the western side of the park and another in an inaccessible area situated in the south of the park.
Kakadu National Park is using NAFI (satellite fire monitoring system) to monitor the situation. The current situation is that there is no immediate or serious risks to visitors or property.
If this situation changes updates will be provided on Parks Australia’s Kakadu National Park website and through our social media channels.
