The Walpa Gorge walking track upgrades began this week at Kata Tjuta with work expected to take about four weeks. 

The upgrades will include new decking and paintwork on 11 elevated structures including 10 elevated walkways and one viewing platform.

The main walking track will remain open during this period although there will be some minor disruption as work is carried out.

To ensure visitor safety there will be a temporary closure of the end section of the track during upgrades to the viewing platform.

This majority of the walk will remain open during the construction period.

The upgrades at Kata Tjuta are part of the $233-million Parks Australia infrastructure program, which is a major Australian Government investment into national parks.
