Booderee National Park

Tuesday 27 July 2021

Parks Australia is calling for tenders for a major upgrade of Murrays Beach Boardwalk in Booderee National Park.

The boardwalk is a key piece of infrastructure located in one of the park’s most popular locations. It will be replaced and upgraded to improve access and safety for visitors to Murrays Beach.

The new boardwalk will include new fencing, ramps, steps and lighting, and will extend from Murrays Beach car park down to the boat ramp and jetty.

A priority for construction is that works have a low impact on the environment and on visitor access. Where possible, old timber from the existing boardwalk will be re-claimed and stored for future use.

Parks Australia will work with the successful tenderer to do as much prefabrication off-site as possible, in order to shorten any temporary closures of the boat ramp that might be needed during construction.

Construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022.

The upgrades are part of the Australian Government’s $233 million investment to upgrade infrastructure in Commonwealth national parks.

The tender for the boardwalk construction is now open and will close on 2 pm Monday 6 September 2021. To find out more or apply, visit the AusTender website.
