A survey of artworks emerging from the Painting with Parkinson’s program and a reflection of diverse experiences offered from the context of the Banksia Centre. Over its 25-year history the program has been immensely enriched by the presence of the Banksia precinct at the Gardens. The visual presence of the trees themselves as well as the ambient presence of the site has provided a significant contribution to the wellbeing and creativity of the Parkinson’s group. This exhibition is a celebration of that presence and contribution.

As well as direct visual engagement with botanical elements from the site, the group has also responded in collaboration with musicians from the Canberra Symphony Orchestra who have often improvised ‘soundscapes’ which refer to the broader Botanic Gardens. Recordings of improvised soundscapes are an accompaniment to the exhibition itself.
