Native Plant Sale
A boutique sale of plants grown by the Gardens’ Growing Friends using material sourced in the Gardens.
When: Saturday 16 September, 8:30 – 11:00am (or earlier if sold out)
Where: Banksia Centre Car Park
Price: Plants $6 and $10
All plants for sale are propagated by the Growing Friends from cuttings or seeds sourced from the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Growing Friends plant sales are run by volunteers, and all proceeds go to support the Gardens via the Friends of the ANBG. Arrive early for the best selection.
Among the hundreds of plants for sale you will find the familiar and unusual across many plant families, including a diverse selection of correas and telopeas.
To add a structural effect to the home garden or property we will have a selection of larger plants such as Eucryphia lucida ‘Pink Cloud’, the Tasmanian Leatherwood with its beautiful, delicate pink flowers that are so attractive to bees; or Podocarpus elatus, the Brown Pine or Plum Pine, in both male & female forms.
Among the shrubs for sale is Eremophila splendens with beautiful reddish flowers. Micrantheum hexandrum, the Box Micrantheum, with small dark green leaves, bronze to reddish new growth & profuse, scented, creamy white flowers is attractive as a specimen plant or as part of a hedge.
Eremophila glabra ‘Kalbarri Carpet’ is an excellent ground cover, with soft silvery grey foliage and beautiful yellow flowers and a spreading habit. It is also great planted in a rockery or in a container.
This year, in addition to selling native plants, the Growing Friends will also be selling second-hand books relating to all aspects of the identification, propagation and cultivation of Australian native plants.
A plant list will be available one week before the sale at www.friendsanbg.org.au
