Invitation for Public Comment – Proposal to Take or Harvest Native Species for Commercial Purposes

The Kakadu National Park Management Plan 2016–2026, Section 10.5 makes provision for the commercial take or harvest of native species by local Aboriginal people.

Under Section 10.5.4, all Category B (larger scale) proposals for the commercial take or harvest of native species must be made available for public comment.

Kakadu National Park has received a Category B proposal from Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation to collect the fruit of Kakadu Plum (Terminalia ferdinandiana) for commercial purposes.

The park is now inviting public comment on the proposal.

If you are unable to provide an electronic submission, hard copy submissions should be posted to: Planning Officer Kakadu National Park PO Box 71 Jabiru NT 0886.

Submissions will be accepted from 20 November 2018 until the close of business on 11 December 2018.
