Kunngobarn - prepare & colour Pandanus leaves for weaving
Have you ever wondered how beautiful Top End Aboriginal natural fibre weavings are created? In this session you will learn all about the natural materials that have been hand collected locally.
Join local Daluk (Aboriginal women), in collecting natural dye on country and learn the technique for stripping fresh Pandanus fronds. Prepare a variety of colourful dyes using flowers, seeds, bulbs and roots from native flora, and turn the stripped pandanus from green to a spectrum of colours. Even get to make your own armband.
For cultural reasons the weaving workshop is for female participants only. Men are welcome to watch.
