Commercial media
Australian Marine Parks showcase some of the most spectacular marine ecosystems in Australia. Many of these places are too remote for the average Australian to visit.
Documentaries, publications and news stories put together by commercial media companies make our marine parks accessible to everyone.
Where are commercial media activities allowed?
Commercial media activities are allowed across all zones in marine parks.
For further information about the zones and rules in each marine park, check the factsheets on each regional network.
Do commercial media activities need approval?
Yes. A licence is required to conduct commercial media activities in marine parks. In the South-east Network of marine parks, a permit is required.
News-of-the-day reporting may be undertaken without a permit, subject to advance notification being provided to the Director of National Parks at parksmedia@dcceew.gov.au
A use fee may apply for your licence. We will be in touch with you once we have assessed your application.
We welcome your ideas on how you want to be involved.
For further information about the zones and rules in each marine park, look at the factsheets on each regional network on our data and resources page.
