This report was prepared for the Director of National Parks to assist the Expert Scientific Panel of the independent review of Commonwealth marine reserves proclaimed in November 2012.
It assesses the current (as at June 2015) state of knowledge in relation to the extent to which the pelagic ecosystems are functionally linked to the benthic/demersal realm across the range of environments that are protected in the Commonwealth marine reserves.
