Summary

Parks Australia commissioned James Cook University to assess:

• the latest condition of benthic, fish and invertebrate communities on reefs in the Coral Sea Marine Park
• any ongoing impacts of the back-to-back (2020 and 2021) bleaching events on benthic, fish and invertebrate communities
• gain further understanding of the resilience and biodiversity of the CSMP ‘bright spot’ reefs.

Researchers also undertook an Our Marine Parks Grant Project to assess the health of Ashmore and Boot Reefs in collaboration with Mer Island Traditional Owners.
