The objective of this report is to identify a modular recycling pathway for ghost nets and other marine debris in the Gulf of Carpentaria and Torres Strait, through the identification of a supply chain, recycling technology and market pathway.

This report considers the social, financial, technical, behavioural, and cultural factors that affect the viability of implementing a modular recycling pathway.

Opportunities and challenges have been reality checked against the metrics of technical considerations, community desire, expectations and readiness and applicability to a remote location, through desktop research, technology assessment and stakeholder engagement.

The report will inform the feasibly of recycling ghost nets and other marine debris in northern Australia.
